FOTOSYNTHESIS is a team of professional photographers, filmmakers, educators, facilitators, designers, participatory methods practitioners that uses creative and inclusive image making as a tool to engage, educate and create new narratives with 10 years of experience. We have a human centered, intuitive, sensitive and engaging approach to working with people to represent them positively and with dignity. We offer: PARTICIPATORY PHOTOGRAPHY; or “Photovoice”, is a research methodology that facilitates groups to become the photographers of their own lives. We design, facilitate and evaluate inclusive and creative processes and staff training tailored to the needs of your national or international programmes. CREATIVE PHOTOGRAPHY - to make photography and accessible to anyone, take time and allow human connections to take place. Our workshops range from digital to self-portraiture, darkroom to camera-less. We tailor them to meet project and participants’ needs. CLASSROOMS -Uuse images and photography in the classrooms as catalysts for oral and written expression.Through our experiential Learning Through Photography methodology, stimulate visual literacy, team work, communication skills, engagement, creativity, self-thinking and self-esteem. PEACEBUILDING - Storytelling’s capacity to catalyse processes of healing both within and between communities can increase levels of understanding and empathy. An image can represent multiple people’s experiences of conflict, allowing divergent perspectives and commonalities. HOPE AUDIO-VISUAL PRODUCTION - We believe that positive and inspiring stories bring hope and direct actions and that we need to narratives to communicate what works rather than what doesn’t work by producing videos with strong ethics. CONSULTANCY - We tailor our training and consultancy to your needs from NGO staff training in ethics of representations or storytelling, to exhibitions curating, to participatory photography methods to teacher training.
