Centre for Global HRM (CGHRM)
cghrm.gu.seThe Centre for Global HRM (CGHRM) aims to strengthen research on HRM by constituting a meeting place and a knowledge bank for HRM-related topics. Through broad research collaborations, CGHRM wishes to initiate, develop and drive relevant HRM research in a continuous dialogue with public and private sectors, and also to disseminate research results. The overarching aim is to strengthen Swedish competitiveness by contributing to research and development in work policy and a sustainable and balanced working life. CGHRM has a national mission; shall establish both national and international collaborations ; and constitute a meeting place for researchers and professionals in the field of HRM. In order to fulfil its vision, CGHRM conduct a range of different activities. One important cornerstone is the Centre’s public seminars on HRM-relevant topics which have become highly appreciated among both scholars and HRM-professionals. In order to strengthen HRM-research, the Centre advertise seed money; organises an annual international conference on HRM (3-5 April 2019); and research networks and seminars. Currently, CGHRM is in the midst of establishing Sweden’s first ever professorship in HRM. CGHRM was established in 2013, and is a collaboration between two faculties (The School of Business, Economics and Law, and the Faculty of Social Sciences) and two departments (Business Adminstration, and Sociology and Work Science) at the University of Gothenburg. The Centre is run by a steering committee, and also consists of two advisory bodies where one represents private and public partner organisations and one academia. While the first focuses on practical relevance, the second aims to ensure academic quality. In 2018, CGHRM has 14 partner organisations: AstraZeneca, E.ON, Getinge AB, City of Gothenburg, Hogia, IKEA, City of Malmö, RISE, the Swedish Association of HRM, Swedish Transport Administration, Region Västra Götaland, Volvo Cars, Volvo Group, Wise.
