As we know 90% of learning is done by doing the job and interacting with peers and colleagues. Spending a couple of hours a month “out of the business” to reflect and discuss with a professional coach, who is not employed by the organisation brings about an increased awareness, responsibility and a commitment to personal development. We support this through coaching plans, reflection notes, progress review reports and pragmatic interventions based on our own experience. We coach those who are new in role. This starts with the development of an individual plan for their first 90+ days. During and at the end of this period the individual completes our “healthcheck” survey to identify those areas that still need to be worked on, in order to accelerate their effectiveness. Following the transition to “established” in role we can then work with the individual as a coach/mentor to maintain momentum. Individual coach/mentor programmes start with the identification of what that person wants to achieve. This can have already been identified or our role specific performance “healthcheck” can be completed to identify strengths and development areas. Meeting on a regular basis to reflect, coach and mentor we provide the individual with the structure and space to keep focussed on their goal and to capture those learnings that are very often lost due to the pressure of work. As we do with the individual, when coaching teams we start with a “healthcheck” but in this case specific to High Performing Teams. Team goals are identified and the coaching programme developed to support the achievement of these goals through regular coaching sessions. Everything we do has the focus of Making Work Better by enabling individuals and teams to do their job more effectively and in turn enjoy it more.
