Pseads (“seeds”) is an education and design institute and collective of educators using storytelling, poetry, science, cosmology, and media to uplift and champion youth visions and voices, transform ideas about intelligence and ability, cultivate hope and health, and unleash joy and innovation. Pseads was created to foster joy and an innate love for learning, integrate scientific and creative exploration, and engage brain and heart together for peace. This work was inspired by, and grew out, of incredible mentorship; nearly two decades of study and research; and work with more than 25,000 students and classroom educators at all levels of education (kindergarten to medical school). We create customized learning and leadership projects with students of all ages. Our programs and projects are focused on the links between perception and creativity, self-awareness and learning, and dignity and leadership. Current projects include The Blue Skies Bright Star Science and Poetry Program, STEM education initiatives, a leadership institute for first-year college students, learning laboratories for teachers, and collaboration with facilities and organizations looking to create and enhance experiential learning, literacy, love for science, integrated learning, student-led projects, and community impact. Pseads programs and projects include reevaluating the metrics that matter in human systems, and developing novel assessment methodologies that cultivate continuous growth, lifelong learning and joy in re-vision, and multi-media components that utilize technology to tell new stories of human potential. This work includes book, film and audio projects intended to amplify courageous young voices offering visions for peace.
