The Tampa Bay Mobility Alliance

www.gotbmo.com

The Tampa Bay Mobility Alliance (TBMO), will be a 501.c.3 created with the purpose to engage, educate, and advocate for greater mobility options in Tampa Bay. Trust is essential if Tampa Bay is to move the needle on transportation. Trust is predicated upon equity, transparency, and accountability, which is accomplished through the creation of a well segmented alliance. Alliances which are broad and deep can help deal with doubt and distrust by engaging and educating the public early in the process. Why are we building an alliance now? Lessons learned from the 2017 benchmarking trips, conferences, and conversations with local officials and those involved in transportation initiatives in other metros reveal that the most advanced transportation hubs also have supporting mobility alliances. Building a transportation advocacy alliance today will enable Tampa Bay to create a united front well before any potential future project is presented to the community. It enables supporters for transportation choices to go on the offense by discussing our transportation woes without the weight of having to defend any one plan. The alliance will be active across the entire Tampa Bay region. Members will write letters and scour the social media blogs to advance the cause of greater transportation options. Coalition members will speak before our Boards of County Commissioners and appear before City Councils. This group will also attend local transportation agency board meetings on a regular basis, from Pasco, Hillsborough and Pinellas counties. We want people to think that “These guys are everywhere” and then ask “How can I join?”
