Connecticut Center for Arts and Technology

www.conncat.org

The Connecticut Center for Arts and Technology (ConnCAT) fosters an environment of hope and inspiration through the advent of market relevant job training for unemployed adults, as well as utilize the arts as a vehicle for academic achievement for youth. Our programs respond to New Haven’s unemployment rate, employer needs and the academic engagement of urban youth. ConnCAT’s mission is to prepare youth and adults for educational and career advancement, through after-school arts, and job training programming. Our mission is based on a simple philosophy – that every human being, despite the circumstances of his or her birth, is born full of potential, and that the way to unlock that potential is to place individuals in a nurturing environment and expose them to the kind of stimulating and empowering creative experiences that feed the human spirit. At the heart of our mission is creating a learning environment that inspires hope, innovation, creativity, and excellence, and that elevates individuals’ expectations of themselves and others. We focus on providing our high quality programs to a small number of adult learners in order for us to best achieve our desired results – a transformative experience that enables students to adjust the trajectory of their lives. We currently offer job training in Medical Billing & Coding and Phlebotomy. A third training program in the Culinary Arts is in development. Our youth programs focus on experiential learning through the arts and are run year long. All or our programs are offered at no cost to participants.
