United Service Club Queensland

www.unitedserviceclub.com.au

The United Service Club Queensland is a private members’ club nestled in historic Spring Hill, just a short stroll from Brisbane’s CBD. We provide a wide range of hospitality services to our 2000 members and the business, Government and Defence communities of this beautiful capital city. Our Club was established in 1892 for officers of the Queensland Defence Force – our founding President was Major General John Owen, Commandant of the Queensland Defence Force (1891-94). Back then we catered exclusively to military officers, until 1974 when we broadened eligibility for membership to include the wider professional community of Brisbane. Within our Club you’ll find all the elegance of a bygone era – beautifully appointed reception rooms, stained glass windows, glittering chandeliers and ornate pressed metal ceilings. Our current premises were built at the turn of the 20th Century by Claude William Chambers, one of the founding members and first secretary of the Queensland Institute of Architects. The buildings were purchased by the Club in 1946 and were listed on the Heritage Register of Queensland in 1999. Our Club maintains the high standards demanded by our rich heritage and traditions, while at the same time incorporating all the facilities and services that satisfy the requirements of the modern business professional. Whether you are seeking somewhere for dining, private functions, or one of our 17 comfortably appointed accommodation suites, rest assured we pride ourselves on ensuring members and guests feel at home when they visit, with service second to none our hallmark.
