Founded in 1984, the Office of the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions (CDPP) is an independent prosecution service established by Parliament to prosecute alleged offences against Commonwealth law. We aim to provide an effective, ethical, high quality and independent criminal prosecution service for Australia in accordance with the Prosecution Policy of the Commonwealth. The CDPP has 10 offices around Australia - Adelaide, Brisbane, Cairns, Canberra, Darwin, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth, Sydney and Townsville. The majority of our employees are lawyers and we employ social workers as part of the Witness Assistance Service. We also employ people across a wide range of enabling services including litigation support, governance, accountancy, IT services, library services, people services, financial services, business improvement, professional development and administrative support.
