Thunderbird champions culturally-based addictions, substance use and mental wellness services for First Nations in Canada, advocating for and creating a collaborative systems approach that empowers Hope, Belonging, Meaning and Purpose. Our core mandate is the implementation of the Honouring our Strengths: A Renewed Framework to Address Substance Use Issue among First Nations in Canada, and the First Nations Mental Wellness Continuum Framework. Thunderbird leads or supports the implementation of these frameworks through: * knowledge exchange (toolkits, guidebooks, and training) * development of the Native Wellness Assessment™the world's first instrument that measures the effect of cultural interventions on a wellness from a whole person and strengths based perspective * implementation of the Addictions Management Information System (A.M.I.S.) in treatment centres run by the National Native Alcohol and Drug Abuse Program (NNADAP) and Youth Solvent Abuse Program (YSAP) * through supporting strategies to address wage parity in the NNADAP/YSAP workforce. Current Accredited Training Courses include: 1. Land for Healing 2. Strengths Based Addiction Treatment/Care Facilitation 3. Care Facilitation 4. Culture as Intervention/Native Wellness Assessment 5.
