Tanja Verheyen and Bob Vermeir want to break the taboo on "demotion". Demotion is putting a step back in your career. In 2011 they wrote the first book on the subject: "Remotion. A step back is a step forward " (only available in Dutch). Remotion is a positive demotion. Today they also talk about "career twists" because career twists do not judge or condemn; it is about rising, falling or taking a step aside in your career. Without linking this mobility to success or failure. After this first book, Tanja explored the theme more profound; first with a research chair at the VUB, then with a dissertation. In addition to keynotes and workshops on career twists, she also advises companies and organizations on how to practice demotion successfully. That is for the employer and the employee.
