Chilled Ponds Ice Sports Complex is a premiere facility offering an array of skating opportunities on 90,000 square feet of twin-sheet, NHL-sized ice rinks. Our founder, Patrick Cavanagh implemented his vision to introduce the joy and family-centric benefits that ice sports would bring to the Hampton Roads community and offer a seamless, comprehensive pyramid of development that has produced professional athletes and National Championships that position Chilled Ponds as a national model of success for other hockey/skating programs. “The Ponds” is home to USPHL National Champion, the Hampton Roads Whalers, and proud host to Whaler Nation Youth and Junior Hockey teams, where players ages 6-20 compete throughout the U.S. and Canada. We are also the official practice facility for the ECHL’s Norfolk Admirals. Our unique full-spectrum program starts with Learn to Play hockey and transitions through Hockey Academy to Whaler Nation house leagues to travel leagues to championship-caliber Junior Hockey and, ultimately, professional hockey with the Norfolk Admirals. At the adult hockey level, our renowned Ponds Adult Hockey League (PAH) provides four levels of year-round play for fun and competition. Our Learn to Skate/Learn to Play figure skating programs offer top-notch instruction for skaters of all levels, from beginner to world-class. We take our commitment to our community very seriously.
