Albert J. Ellis Airport is a commercial service airport on the east coast of North Carolina serving Jacksonville and surrounding communities from Wilmington to New Bern. OAJ is served by two airlines and offers jet service to Atlanta, Charlotte and Washington, DC. Opened in 1971 the airport is undergoing a major redevelopment and expansion including a new passenger terminal, corporate/GA terminal, new hangers, rental car facilities and a new air traffic control tower.
