Ballymun Community Law Centre
www.bclc.ieBallymun Community Law Centre was established in 2002 as a result of a campaign to address the unmet legal needs of the community in Ballymun, a community where no previous legal services existed. This unmet legal need refers to both local community organisations and, to a greater degree, the residents in the area. Legal need implies a need for empowerment to enable people to identify their problems, access legal services and to find a satisfactory non-legal solution to that problem should they wish to do so. The Centre offers a holistic range of services that includes provision of information, advice, assistance, representation, mediation and education, as well as taking a strategic approach to tackling inequality. The Law Centre is committed to working in a professional, responsive, respectful and timely manner for the benefit of the client and community. There is drop-in legal advice service available, offering full representation and advice in appropriate cases. The areas of law the Law Centre deals with include housing, social welfare, debt, consumer, employment and equality. The Centre also provides a comprehensive community legal education programme and both community and family mediation services as an alternative dispute resolution method.
