The Milton Keynes Rose
www.trustmk.comThe Milton Keynes Rose is a new place for the people of Milton Keynes to celebrate, commemorate and mark occasions important to them; a place where thousands can gather to mark Armistice Day or one person can remember another in a personal moment. It is not a sombre place, but a place of coming together. The Milton Keynes Rose provides a place where people can gather to mark national, local or personal occasions, be they historical, in joy or in remembrance. The Milton Keynes Rose was created in Campbell Park, by award-winning, renowned artist Gordon Young. It consists of a vast circular paved area with a series of granite columns set within it. The columns mark the crossing points of the concentric spiral paths which are based on the mathematical properties of a flower. The dates engraved into the pillars act as a calendar which is significant to Milton Keynes. This calendar demonstrates the unique character of Milton Keynes, its history, its people and its global links. Some of the pillars have been left unmarked for the future and history that has yet to happen.
