Slated to open in September 2019, Brooklyn Independent is a private, sliding-scale middle school that seeks to integrate students across racial and socioeconomic lines. By prioritizing academic excellence, social-emotional maturity, development of passions and leadership capability, Brooklyn Independent aspires to nurture graduates from all social and racial backgrounds that will lead and inspire at the top northeast high schools. Having spent the majority of our educational careers serving students from low-income families, we believe it is every child’s human right to have access to excellent schooling options. Through Brooklyn Independent we will create equitable access to education at a level previously inaccessible to students from all socioeconomic backgrounds.
