Community Free Clinic of Cabarrus County

www.communityfreeclinic.org

Founded in 1994 by physicians David Lockhart and George Liles, the Community Free Clinic helps Cabarrus County adults move toward wellness by providing healthcare and pharmacy services to low-income, uninsured adults at no charge. The Clinic is a collaborative partnership with volunteer doctors, nurses, pharmacists, dentists, social workers, lab technicians, students, Community Care Plan of Southern Piedmont, the United Way of Central Carolinas and CMC-NorthEast. Community Free Clinic is our community’s response to unmet healthcare needs in Cabarrus County. We serve working aged adults living with chronic health conditions who are not poor enough for Medicaid, not old enough for Medicare, and cannot afford costs associated with insurance (premiums, deductibles, co-pays). Patients served at the Community Free Clinic have no provision within the Affordable CARE Act of 2010 since our state has yet to elect to expand Medicaid. Patients are determined eligible for the local healthcare safety net program, HealthNet, by our Clinic. This program provides a medical home and medications to treat chronic health conditions at no charge to enrolled patients. Approximately 900 patients are served each year.
