Diamond Caverns was discovered on July 14, 1859. One month later the caverns were first opened to the public. For over 150 years the caverns have attracted visitors from around the world to explore the majestic underground beauty. Presented by state-of-the-art lighting, Diamond Caverns features intricate drapery deposits lining the halls with thousands of stalactites, stalagmites and flowstone deposits throughout the entire tour. Guided hour-long tours are offered every 20 - 30 minutes throughout the day. The caverns are open year-round except, Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Year's days so that our staff can spend time with their families. The cave remains a comfortable 58 degrees year-round, which feels cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Plan to wear supportive walking shoes for the ½ mile cave tour. Reservations are not required. The Caverns Gift Shop offers a unique selection of rocks, minerals, fossils, apparel, gift items and so much more. Diamond Caverns is located in Mammoth Cave National Park, a “World Heritage Site” and “International Biosphere Preserve” just one mile off of I-65 at Exit 48 (Park City).
