Delft Challenge

In 2003, an enthusiastic group of students from the TU Delft started their dream project: starting an offshore student sailing race team to perform at a national and international level and meet the level of the professionals. Ever since, the groups is continuously renewing with new student sailors. It is a fast learning program where the sailors organise everything to sail as many hours as possible. Delft Challenge has been sailing is the Farr30, a small keelboat, for most of its time to perform in the Tour Voile. In 2018 the switch was made to a Diam24, a high performance trimaran for three sailors. This was a large challenge as we were the only team in the Netherlands and nearly all of the races were in France. Two years, we have successfully raced this boat. However, we have realised that we rather go back to our roots. This year we are changing to a Far East 28R, another small but fast keelboat for 5 to 6 sailors. With this change we will be able to sail more in the Netherlands and get back on the stage next to our previous competitors. This time however with all the new skills we have learned in the past years.
