Ramakrishna Mission is a philanthropic organization with over 200 centres worldwide. The centres are engaged in various forms of humanitarian and social service activities for more than a century. The Delhi Centre of the Mission runs a pan-India value education programme - the Awakened Citizen Programme (ACP). Vision: To create a nation of Awakened Citizens. Mission: Empowering young Indians by allowing them to discover a value system and manifest the infinite potential within them. Approach: The Awakened Citizen Program is a unique value education program for middle school students. This structured, three-year graded program has been developed by our knowledge partner Illumine Knowledge Resources Pvt. Ltd, Mumbai. We train teachers to become facilitators and provide adequate handholding to schools to enable them to conduct the program in their respective schools. The program fosters an enabling environment for students to help them discover their potential and make responsible choices. Our reach: Today, more than 5,700 schools across India have adopted the program. We have trained more than 46,000 teachers as facilitators, impacting more than 10 lakh students. The Delhi Centre is also setting up the Vivekananda Institute of Values (VIVA) in Gurugram. The Institute will impart Swami Vivekananda's ideas and values aimed at providing man-making, character-building education and training to a variety of stakeholders. About ACP: A Three Year Graded Value Education Program for Classes VI, VII, VIII or Classes VII, VIII, IX. The Awakened Citizen Program in total comprises of 48 modules of approximately 45 minutes each. Each class goes through 16 modules per year.
