Stevin Rock is one of largest quarrying companies in the world. The Company has been operating since 1975 in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, one of the seven Emirates of the United Arab Emirates, with a current production capacity from three sites of over 80 million tons per year of limestone, dolomite and gabbro for the construction industry (fine to coarse aggregate for asphalt, ready-mix plants, land reclamation, etc., armor rock for sea defense/breakwater marine projects) as well as for the cement, steel and mining industries. The Company is owned by the Government of Ras Al Khaimah, has over 3,500 employees and has been in activity for over 40 years. The world-class Khor Khuwair Quarry is operated by Stevin Rock and sister company RAK Rock and has a production capacity of over 60 million tonnes of high-quality limestone per year. It is adjacent to Saqr Port, also owned by the Government of Ras Al Khaimah, and one of the largest ports in the Gulf region with over 50 million tonnes of fret handled per year, mostly dry bulk cargo that includes Stevin Rock products. Saqr Port commissioned on 10 October 2018 a 18 m deep water berth suitable for capesize vessels with loading capacities of up to 30,000 tonnes per day. The second 18 m deep water berth will be available in April 2019 and the port’s throughput will be increased to 80 Mt per year. Stevin Rock Harbour, next to Saqr Port, is used for supplying rock material to Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Gulf countries using barges up to 26,000 dwt. Stevin Rock has supplied construction material for world class projects in the UAE and GCC countries including the iconic Burj Khalifa, Palm Jumeirah and the World islands in Dubai, the Dubai Mall, the Dubai metro, port constructions and expansions in the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Iraq, etc. The Company is also the sole supplier to the local cement plants. Stevin Rock has also sent to Singapore a trial shipment of around 55,000 tonnes of crushed limestone as land reclamation sand that strictly complied with the stringent local specifications and was successfully used by international contractors on one of the major land reclamation projects. The Company has been approved to major Management System Standards such as ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and OHSAS 18001:2007; Stevin Rock has also complied with the requirements of the Framework Standard for Responsible Sourcing BES 6001:Issue 3.0 The crushing and screening system at Stevin Rock has the flexibility to produce crushed aggregates/crushed rock of any size range in order to meet the specific requirements of our client. General specifications of crushed aggregates are as per BS/ASTM standards.
