Fryslân Fire Department is part of the Fryslân Safety Region. Within the Fryslân Safety Region, the Frisian municipalities, the Fryslân Fire Department, the GGD Fryslân and other partners are working together on fire service, public health care, disaster relief and crisis management. The fire brigade focuses on preventing and limiting fire, fire fighting, technical assistance in, for example, traffic accidents, incidents with dangerous substances, danger of collapse and storm and water damage. Nearly 1,400 people work at the Fryslân Fire Department, including approximately 1,200 volunteers.
