Entrust
www.entrust.org.ukThe Government has long been aware of the negative impacts landfill sites can have on local communities and wanted to do something about it. With this in mind, they introduced a tax credit scheme known as The Landfill Communities Fund (LCF). The scheme allows Landfill Site Operators to reduce their tax liability in exchange for contributing money to registered Environmental Bodies (EBs). In turn, these EBs deliver projects that benefit communities and environments in the vicinity of landfill sites. Since Entrust was appointed as regulator of the LCF in 1996, we have worked hard to ensure that monies are spent in compliance with the Regulations—effectively ensuring that the funding provided is only spent on worthwhile causes! We do this by assessing all projects before LCF funding is released, monitoring how EBs spend their funding, and providing guidance and support throughout the project approval, delivery and post completion process. In short, we at Entrust work tirelessly and objectively to make sure that LCF monies are spent in compliance with the Regulations—and we do it all with the aim of making a difference for communities and environments across England and Northern Ireland.
