Founded in 1974, the Waterloo Boys’ Choir, Les Pastoureaux (literally: the Shepherd Boys), numbers more than 50 boys aged 7 to 14, ranging from soprano to alto, balanced by around 20 teenagers and adults singing as tenors and basses. Around 20 choristers form a group called the Groupe Cantate: they are even more zealous boys who develop additional skills in order to perform more challenging musical pieces. Les Pastoureaux have gained valuable experience and international reputation based on more than 1,000 concerts performed in Belgium as well as concert tours around the world (all over Europe and North and South America, in Japan, etc.). Meeting each time an enthusiastic audience helps to strengthen their skills. On several occasions, soloists of Les Pastoureaux have taken part in opera productions, at the National Opera of Belgium (La Monnaie) and the Opera Company of Brooklyn.
