The Resilience Institute
www.resilienceinstitute.caThe Resilience Institute is a national charitable organization based in Canmore, Alberta, Canada. The TRI team consists of a small core operations team plus diverse knowledge holders and skill sets as required on specific initiatives. As a distributed organization we are nimble and therefore able to respond relatively quickly to the evolving climate challenges. Mission: climate resilient futures and reduce risk to disasters. We invite program partners to think of resilience from a personal perspective and from a climate / systems perspective. We partner with local and Indigenous communities, academia, governments, and other charities on initiatives that advance our charitable objectives. We co-develop activities that unite multi-generations in learning and sharing and most initiatives are community led, supported by us where needed, for example through building local capacity by creating in-community - jobs and skills. Unique to our work is that we actively weave Indigenous / holistic values with scientific / technological innovation to advance local change, but also transformative, system-wide change. We create and maintain ‘Global-to-Local / Local-to-Global’ pathways for knowledge sharing through partnerships, for example with the UNFCCC Local Communities & Indigenous Peoples’ Platform and Resilience Frontiers & Lab.
