www.helpathenshomeless.orgAthens Area Homeless Shelter provides collaborative, comprehensive services to homeless individuals and families working toward sustainable independence. We deliver four primary programs: Almost Home Transitional Shelter: Provides transitional housing and supportive services to homeless mothers with children in the community. The Almost Home program works with clients on educational, employment, financial, health care, and other individualized goals. Going Home Rapid Rehousing: Provides financial assistance for homeless families seeking to move in to housing in the Athens community. The Going Home program works with clients who have a source of income on budgeting and financial stability while providing financial assistance geared towards maintaining stable housing. Job TREC (Job Training, Referral, Education, and Case Management): Seeks to decrease barriers to housing stability by providing case management services to homeless individuals. Our case managers work closely with each client to evaluate specific needs and to develop short- and long-term goals. Financial Education: Clients who are identified both in AAHS programs and through other community organizations receive intensive financial literacy training and one on one case management for ten weeks. These sessions provide clients with budgeting, bank accounts, credit checks, and smart spending skills.
