Warm Wales Cymru Gynnes deliver a wide range of partnership-based regeneration and sustainable energy measures in the fight against fuel poverty. Established in 2004 by the National Grid, Warm Wales was the first Community Interest Company (CIC) in Wales. Warm Wales-Cymru Gynnes was set up in 2004 by National Grid as part of that company’s specific aim to meet its corporate responsibility to Government and deliver benefits to 1 million fuel poor homes. It chose to do this under the banner of the ‘Affordable Warmth’ Programme. Warm Wales-Cymru Gynnes contributed to towards achieving this target. Being a CIC means we have no shareholders’, instead any profits made are put back into the communities we serve. Our status also means that we bring a community centred approach to economic, social and environmental sustainability. We invest in the communities in which we work and leave a legacy of positive achievements. A small selection of our past projects are included on our website https://www.warmwales.org.uk/past-work/ The years since our launch have witnessed huge changes for the energy efficiency industry. Schemes such as The Energy Efficiency Commitment (EEC), The Carbon Emissions Reduction Target (CERT), The Community Energy Saving Programme (CESP) and the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) 1 are just some of the schemes have that have been and gone; whilst others including ECO2 and EC02t are still with us. Monitoring the availability of funding and assessing its suitability to aid communities is a key part of what we do. Being able to access grant aid from a number of sources enables us to provide innovative solutions for challenging projects. We are currently engaged in a number of projects including Community Energy Champion schemes in Wales and the South West and the Warm Home Assistance Scheme with Wales & Wales Utilities.
