The Blackbird London
www.blackbirdarts.org.ukWelcome to The Blackbird, a platform created to showcase artists, writers and disruptors. Our primary focus is celebrating the work of creatives from diverse backgrounds who are usually relegated to the margins. If you are BME, a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, consider yourself to be Neurodivergent, or are a writer or artist who is making work but has had no "formal" arts education, we want to hear from you! We believe in supporting and nurturing artists and creatives who submit work to us, how can you possibly develop and grow your practice without feedback and proper signposting? This is why, if you submit work to us for consideration, you will usually receive feedback of some kind. If we decide not to accept your work this time around, it does not mean that we are saying "no" forever. What it does mean, is that we want to help you to develop your work, and come back to us at a later date. We are happy to accept submissions from everyone, but please be aware that our main goal is to provide a safe space for people from diverse backgrounds to showcase their work and feel supported. How do we do this? We have online directory of talented artists and makers who have submitted work to us, and we feature them in our online gallery. We are hoping that this directory will grow far too big for us to handle! For the writers, our blog will publish articles, essays, short stories and poetry. In addition, we run crits, mixers, panels and other events, to help you meet and connect with like minded people and perhaps even find collaborators! Want to submit work to us? Artists/ Makers - we will need some good quality images of your work, a short bio and your social media or website links if you have them. Writers - send us your piece as a word document, a short bio and your social media or website links (again if you have them). Send all submissions to blackbirdartspace@gmail.com. Questions, feel free to email us or message us here!
