BeReady was established in order to develop the employability and 'soft skills' of graduates and school leavers in order to aid their transition into the workplace. Whilst students leave 6th form or university with an in-depth subject knowledge, they often lack the 'soft skills' and general work-readiness employers look for.    This skills gap has been widely reported by such bodies as the HECSU (Higher Education Careers Service Unit) and AGR (Association of Graduate Recruiters).
