China-Mekong Law Center
www.chinamekong.orgEstablished on August 13, 1996, China-Mekong Law Center (“CMLC”) is a 501(c)(3) charitable non-profit corporation organized under the laws of the District of Columbia. We design, implement and support innovative legal education programs in China and Mainland Southeast Asia. For more than 25 years, we have helped Asian law schools establish unique academic programs and improve pedagogy. In turn, numerous law students have gained immensely from participation in CMLC supported programs, including scholarship support to continue studies both domestically and overseas. CMLC supported students now fill professional ranks throughout China, the USA and Southeast Asia. Similarly, CMLC trumpets the many institutional partnerships (formal cooperation between and among law schools) that we have facilitated over the years. As international academic cooperation has waned in China, and come to an abrupt halt with the military coup in Myanmar, CMLC finds itself focused on building less widely, but more deeply, under its primary partnership with the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies, Khon Kaen University, Nongkhai Campus Thailand (IS-KKU). This cooperation concentrates on 1) creating a new Masters-level degree program on Law and Development in the Greater Mekong Subregion; 2) the maintenance and expansion of a consortium of Mekong Region Law schools and 3) scholarship support for students to study law at IS-KKU. Please find details at www.chinamekong.org. We welcome you to surf our website to learn more about these new programs.
