FACE for Children in Need
www.facechildren.orgSince 2003, FACE has been implementing a number of services to address the different needs of children, and always gives priority to children placement into family setting, institutionalisation is always considered as a last resort. FACE runs its services in a professional manner and conducts systematic monitoring and evaluation in order to measure and improve its social impact. FACE aims at ensuring quality and sustainability of its activities and thus invests important efforts in training and building the capacity of its local field and support teams. We work with street children and their families, abandoned babies and children, orphans, children victims of abuse from 0 to 18 years old (over 3,000 children per year) 1. The Abandoned Children Program which is composed of three centres for orphans, abandoned children and children in need of protection, and of a family/Kafala team aiming at supporting children to prepare their placement into family care. 2. The Street Children (SC) Program that is composed of an outreach team, a day drop in center, a transitional home, a case management/reintegration team, an education team and a medical team. 3. A training component for both programs that is composed of specialists in different fields (social work, child protection, education, medical care, childcare…) in charge of providing training internally and to civil society and Government partners. 4. A National Kafala program aiming at developing family based alternative care in Egypt in collaboration with local and national authorities (versus the current practices consisting in placing all children within institutions, which is proven to be negative for children development and not cost effective on a national level).
