The Queensland Ombudsman investigates complaints about the actions and decisions of state government departments and agencies (including state schools and TAFE colleges), local councils and public universities. While the majority of investigations completed by the Ombudsman are based on complaints, the Ombudsman also conducts investigations on its own initiative. The Ombudsman is independent of government and may not be directed by any person in deciding what matters to investigate or how an investigation is undertaken.
