Latinos Unidos of Iowa, Incorporated, is a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit, non-partisan, and all volunteer organization. The mission provides educational support to Latinos studying at Iowa Colleges and Universities. Over the years, the organization's mission has changed to reflect the greater diversity of Latinos in Iowa and the need for community building and educational access. Our focus is on education and to continue building on our diverse culture. Founded in 1989 Latinos Unidos of Iowa (formally Viva Mexico) has provided hundreds of academic scholarships to Latino students of all ages. The Latino Students come from all over the world; Spain, Mexico, Peru, Brazil, Puerto Rico, Colombia, etc. To achieve our mission and address the needs of Latino students in Iowa, Latinos Unidos of Iowa raised funds from private contributors, foundations, and fundraisers. We work with colleges to provide matching grants to assist the Latinos Unidos of Iowa Recipient. Latinos Unidos of Iowa cultivates new leaders, supports cultural and community based organizations to improve the quality of life for all Iowans.
