www.puthir.inPuthir is an innovative people-development platform that is the outcome of more than 4 years of research. We will complete 1 year of operations by the end of June, 2018. Our members, dance, listen to stories, make and enact stories, do functional programming without computers, reverse engineer, interpret poetry and the list is endless. They learn to learn and have fun at it. We have successfully demonstrated that: 1. Learning must and can be rethought from the ground up. 2. Even challenging concepts can be assimilated better through experiential learning 3. Observation, guidance and mentorship create better individuals 4. When the right conditions are provided, people persist and persevere even as the tasks get harder 5. It is possible to create an environment where there is joy in learning. While the world has grown leaps and bounds over the last decade, education systems have stagnated. Even the purportedly radical changes from the Scandinavian countries are mere adjustments. Technology has been used to underscore the existing systems rather than bring about a complete change. Education systems are entrenched in the society. Jobs, government, industry all rely on the current education system one way or another. To truly bring about a change, we need to model a system that is self-sufficient. Puthir aims to iteratively create such a system. A model school and a university where the kids graduate not with a mere piece of paper and the promise of a well-paying job, but: • A viable product or a service (and/or) • A culture influencing work of art (and/or) • A revolutionary organization Puthir desires to erase the artificial and counter-productive boundaries established between arts, science and social work by producing graduates that are polymaths.
