Diabetes Ireland (formerly Diabetes Federation of Ireland) is the National Charity for people with diabetes in Ireland. We are dedicated to supporting and advocating for people living with Diabetes. We are working to prevent the spread of Type 2 via our Workplace Wellness programmes. We employ a team of Dietitians, Diabetes Specialist Nurses and Podiatrists and they are positioned regionally for maximum effectiveness in all communities. We own and run 2 Care Centres, in Dublin & Cork, providing essential preventative services for the low-to-moderate risk categories (footcare, counselling, dietetics, eye screening and hearing tests). Our branch network of parents and volunteers, throughout Ireland, organise and support sporting and educational events to fundraise for diabetes. Our Fundraising team work with companies and individuals to provide a flow of funds for our education and prevention campaigns. Our medical professionals write and produce information for the web, books, and consumer and professional magazines and provide comments for media on all diabetes-related topics in Ireland. We distribute this vital information via our website, HSE centres, GPs and meetings. Our advocacy team advocates for a good and fair healthcare service in all communities and fights against discrimination.
