Our planet’s most pressing challenges don’t fit into neat categories that can be addressed in isolation — which is exactly why we invented our revolutionary trans-disciplinary curriculum. At IDCE, we form a passionate community characterized by creativity, bold thinking, and determination. Serving graduate students, accelerated degree students, and undergraduate students via majors and minors in international development and environmental science policy, IDCE is a trans disciplinary academic unit built on more than 35 years of collective experience in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and North America. Offering master’s degrees in the fields of community development and planning, health science (community or global health), environmental science and policy, geographic information science, and international development, curricula are organized across concentrations to emphasize a problem-centered approach. Through IDCE, students learn how to address complex problems and build community across their differences in approach, experience, and knowledge.
