K4I Forum in the European Parliament

www.europeaninnovationarea.eu

K4I is a non-profit organisation with members from the public, private and academic fields. The K4I Forum in the European Parliament is supported by our ‘political’ members. After 10 European Innovation Summit events and hundreds of debates in the European Parliament since 2009, we are now preparing for the next 10 years. This is a perfect moment not only because we are heading for a new European Parliament and a new Commission, but also with a view to the growing relevance of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and data analytics. Furthermore, Horizon Europe, and in particular new or revised parts such as Missions, European Partnerships, the European Innovation Council, innovation ecosystems etc. challenge us to rethink our priorities and activities. Certainly, we will continue our debates bringing together policy makers and stakeholders. However, we want to improve outcomes, outreach and impact, and include systematically member states, regions and actors from the local level moving ’Towards a European Innovation Area’. One of our tasks in K4I is to support policy makers to manage the next generation of innovation policies and provide them with new policy tools and the ability to shape a rapidly changing global innovation system. European innovation policies need to more effectively anticipate and support future industries, skills and technologies and help Europe to compete globally. The ‘Pact for Innovation’ (P4I) priorities are also due for review and the incoming European Parliament is an opportunity to attract new MEPs interested in R&I and technology policy and willing to chair a P4I working groups.
