Universitetsdjursjukhuset
www.slu.seAt the University Animal Hospital (UDS) of the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU), general veterinary medicine and qualified animal health care are practiced around the clock. UDS can offer expertise in most clinical areas. Through our collaboration with academic teachers, researchers, lecturers and professors at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science (VH faculty), who participate in the clinical practice, we have access to leading expertise in many clinical areas. Every year, we receive 18 500 small animals and 6300 horses. The operation is largely funded by patient fees. In addition to the large and small animal clinics, we run an advanced diagnostic imaging practice, and at the clinical chemical laboratory, annually large sample volumes from all over Sweden are being handled. The UDS has also an ambulatory clinic, which serves farm animals in neighbouring areas. UDS employs some 150 staff. We have over 50 licensed veterinaries with specialist skills. Remaining staff are qualified veterinary nurses, biomedical analysts and X-ray technicians. The administration includes the animal hospital director, a controller, and economics and HR staff. Much of the clinical undergraduate education, research and research education within the VH faculty are carried out at the UDS clinics.
