www.calico.orgComputer-Assisted Language Instruction Consortium (CALICO) is an international non-profit organization dedicated to research and development in the use of computer technology in language learning and teaching. CALICO began in 1983 as a group of people interested in using and producing materials for computer-assisted language learning and teaching (CALL). Nowadays, its membership includes language educators, researchers in diverse fields such as second language acquisition, language technology, and instructional technology, as well as designers and developers of (online) tools and resources. CALICO is known for its open and vibrant atmosphere—anyone interested in exploring the use of digital technologies for teaching and learning languages and culture is welcome. CALICO members convene on an annual basis at the CALICO Conference. The conferences feature preconference workshops, papers, software demonstrations, panels, and special interest group meetings for participants at all levels of expertise. CALICO is home to CALICO Journal, the oldest international and fully-refereed journal in the field of CALL, currently published by Equinox (online only). The journal publishes research articles, book reviews, and learning technology reviews. CALICO also publishes a book series, now known as ‘Advances in CALL Research and Practice’ (also in partnership with Equinox Publishing). Before 2016 and going back to 2006, this publication was known as CALICO Monograph Series. CALICO provides a gateway to sister organizations such as EUROCALL, IALLT, and WorldCALL, and serves as a portal to other organizations’ activities such as the annual meeting of ACTFL.
