Michael Amendolia Photography
www.michaelamendolia.comPhotographing people is my specialty. The photographs I make for clients are contemporary, emotive, simply composed, clean, fresh, uplifting made for impact. They tell the story in images, they tell a story of possibilities. Observation, interaction with the subject and attention to detail help me recognise where the emotional moment is in a situation and capture it in a composed still image. I work with the director of communications in an organisation, a marketing mananger of a business, the art directors of a design studio, or picture editors at magazines. The assignment could be a profile portrait of the CEO of a company, a series of photographs for the main page of a website or a series of marketing images to be use in advertising, editorial or social media. My documentary and portrait work for not for profit organisations like The Fred Hollows Foundation are used in fundraising appeal advertising and editorial stories. The images are often used across multiple types of media, newspapers, website, print, social media, and sometimes metro light. Since I started thirty years ago as a staff photographer at News Limited Sydney I have photographed people across the full spectrum of human life. Everything from a portrait session with the prime minister to travelling with a surgical team trekking into a remote part of Himaylan Nepal. These experiences have give me the confidence to handle most people related situations drawing on my years of experience. My forte has been the ability to work fast when it's needed. . Sometimes an executive who is short on time needs a photographer with no fuss and experienced enough to quickly guide them though a couple of poses in a short time yet still get the job done. It is working on location that I am especially at my best, solving all the problems that arise with the unpredictability of the location shoot and adding a context to the picture.
