Healthy Body Moves
www.healthybodymvoes.com"Anat Baniel Method practitioners are NeuroMovement® based Action coaches. We help our clients acquire new skills and improve on existing ways of moving and acting. We work both with adults and with children with Special Needs. Our techniques are based in the science of neuroplasticity and are practical applications of the known characteristics of the brain that lead to formation of new patterns in the brain, leading to the creation of new skills and improved action. We use movement and the understanding of movement mechanics and the role of movement in the formation and organization of the brain, combined with other neuro-plasticity based principles that drive positive brain change and improved ability to organize action - be it the ability to recover the skill of walking after a stroke, help a musician improve his or her ability to play their instrument, or helping a child with brain damage or autism learn to move and talk. We guide the movement of our client through verbal instructions and/or through touch. For example, getting hold of the wrist and helping to guide the client to move the arm in one direction or another. The movement is not done as an exercise or therapy, but as an opportunity to communicate with the client’s brain, providing it with new motor and sensory information (the brain is an information system), so that it can figure out how to organize an action from within itself, like all people do when they learn. In other words, our method is a learning system that takes advantage of the remarkable capacities of the brain to discover new ways of action. Touch is used only as a means to help the client to move. Not unlike what a ballet teacher does from time to time with her students, the martial arts teacher with his students, or the piano or violin teacher does with her students. Anat Baniel Method is supported by neuroscientists, neurologists, pediatric neurologists, and professionals as a learning methodology. Touch is a tool for movement.
