Founded in December 2015, Beyond Rocket Design is a Brazilian rocket team, headquartered at the Federal University of Itajubá and is composed by undergraduate students from the Institution and a coordinating professor. The team mission is to contribute to the development and expansion of the aerospace industry in Brazil and worldwide. The members design, build and launch rockets which reach up to three kilometers of altitude, approximately 9.842,52 feet. The students thus apply their knowledge obtained in the areas of engineering and develop skills such as leadership, project management, organization, research and technical knowledge. The team is divided into four subteams: Structure and Aerodynamics, Propulsion, Electrical Systems and Management. The first is responsible for designing the structure of the rocket and conducting aerodynamic studies, aiming at the best performance during the flight and its recovery. Propulsion is the subteam responsible for the development and execution of the rocket engine design and its auxiliary components. The embedded electronic part of the rocket is performed by the electrical systems team responsible for launching and recovering the rockets, as well as collecting test and flight data. Management is responsible for areas such as finance, human resources, documentation, communication and marketing. Beyond Rocket Design participates in annual rocket competitions in order to pursue challenges to be overcome by increasing members background of rocket building processes and events. Currently, the team participates in two national competitions: The Brazilian Festival of Mini Rockets and the Brazilian University Competition of Rockets (COBRUF).
