Our Vision: We see Scotland as a welcoming place where non-native English speakers have the language skills and confidence to live fulfilling lives. Our Mission: We provide accessible and relevant ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) learning opportunities for adults, supporting integration, employability and personal development. We support ESOL practitioners and learners to have their views heard. We welcome all non-native English speakers, including asylum seekers, refugees, economic migrants and members of settled communities. Our projects include: 1) ESOL in the Community Project which provides SQA accredited ESOL courses in community settings, working in partnership with other organisations. 2) ESOL for Work provides SQA accredited and tailored ESOL to support with languages needs in the work place 3) Volunteer Tutor Project which trains and supports volunteer ESOL tutors to increase community provision and additional learning support. We have developed a Framework for Good Practice in Working with Volunteers in ESOL and maintain a network of national volunteer coordinators. 4) Digital ESOL Project which supports ESOL learners with digital devices, data and support to aid languages learning. 5) Short projects on creative writing and photography Throughout the organisation, our classes are mixed in terms of gender (with some women-only provision, where assessed as better meeting women’s needs), race, ethnicity, language and age.
