Be An Athlete was founded in 2013 by Phil Learney and Andrew Xeni. Phil has been a prominent figure in Strength and Conditioning fields for close to twenty years. In this time he has established and continues to build a reputation based around his intelligent, observational and results-based coaching. Andrew is a successful entrepreneur, specialising in clothing manufacturing. Andrew, weighing twenty-six stone at the time, initially met with Phil in 2011 to lose weight ahead of his upcoming wedding. Following an intense training programme, Andrew lost nine stone, and their astonishing achievement was recognised with a double-page spread in Men’s Fitness magazine. Andrew and Phil have remained close friends ever since, while Andrew has continued to pursue his newfound, healthier lifestyle.
