Suicide Survivors Club LLC
www.suicidesurvivorsclub.orgAccording to the American Association of Suicidology, there are more than 47,000 suicides in a typical year. Each death by suicide leaves behind approximately 130 family members and close friends – that’s over 6 million suicide loss survivors per year in the United States who may need services, and who have a higher likelihood of a continued cycle of suicide without intervention. The Suicide Survivors’ Club was founded by author Rebecca (Becky) Anderson and artist/storyteller Laurie Phillips with a vision to provide art/narrative tools to safely encourage deeper discussions of difficult subject matter by suicide loss survivors. Our objective in offering the 5-book set titled ‘Suicide Survivors’ Club: A Family’s Journey Through the Death of Their Loved One’, workshops, and all-ages workbook/ activity guide is to help educate health care and bereavement specialists on complicated grief, the warning signs of suicide, and how to use safe messaging with suicide loss survivors. We also offer Story Portrait workshops to suicide loss survivors and professionals offering the experience to explore and express loss and grief through art. Research on trauma has shown using art allows people to access their loss in a unique and individual way either participating in a group or with a professional in a one on one setting.
