After the Fire USA
www.afterthefireusa.orgAfter the Fire USA is an initiative of Rebuild NorthBay Foundation (RNBF) a registered 501c3 + 501c4 (RNB) organization dedicated to helping communities recover, rebuild and reimagine post-disaster. In October of 2017, an innovative model for service in disaster was formed by top leaders across sectors to serve as the only nonprofit solely dedicated to helping the North Bay of San Francisco rebuild 8900 structures and thousands of lives. Since 2017, RNBF has dedicated nearly 25,000 staff hours + brought ~$15M to rebuild back better, safer, greener, faster. In 2018, RNBF began helping other megafire devastated communities navigate the complex journey of rebuilding community, supporting local leaders & advocating at the federal level for reforms specific to wildfire. In 2020/21, RNBF launched After the Fire USA, a national leader in convening, advocating, and serving wildfire resilience efforts. Today, we are the foremost experts in the nation on community recovery post-megafire. How? We bring wildfire leaders together to work across sectors and silos, while expanding access to wildfire resiliency and disaster recovery funds and systems. We bust silos to provide a 360-degree view of the Era of Megafires, a solvable crisis rooted in land management, climate change, and a need for resilient housing/systems. Jennifer Gray Thompson serves at the helm as RNBF Executive Director & ATF's CEO/Founder. Under her leadership, our work is focused on three program areas: 1) wildland & home resiliency 2) applied technologies to aid in resilience and recovery, and 3) help for wildfire affected communities navigating recovery. RNBF/ATF Board President Judy Coffey lost her home in the Tubbs Fire: “In 2017, RNBF was an innovation, a vision, and we spent years challenging the traditional disaster nonprofit model in effective & transformative ways. We have a proven record enacting significant impact in both long-term recovery and wildfire mitigation." Together, we do.
