We provide person-centered, longitudinal care to vulnerable newcomers through an interdisciplinary, culturally safe team of family practice clinicians, specialists, allied health, and social service professionals. The health and social needs of our diverse newcomer population can be complex due to significant and sustained hardships endured prior to their arrival in Canada. The medical experience and 2-year analysis of the Refugee Health Working Group for the Surrey-North Delta Division of Family Practice revealed a substantial gap in primary healthcare services for vulnerable new community members in the Surrey-North Delta area. Roots Community Health Centre is designed to meet this need. We are seeking partners to join our team, champion our work, or provide financial support. Surrey receives more refugees than any other municipality in British Columbia. Around 50% of Government-Assisted Refugees in BC settle in Surrey.
