The first legally recognized scientific organization in Greece specializing in mental health of LGBT+ individuals under the name Orlando LGBT+ mental health beyond the stigma. Our main purpose is to promote the scientific approach on LGBT+ mental health that is structured on the idea of full depathologization of sexual orientation and gender identity, respecting self-identification and human rights. Additionally, we are committed to tackling discrimination and any human rights violation that constitute the main risk factor for the mental health and well-being of LGBT+ people. Our code of ethics is based on the following principles: 1. The right of LGBT+ people for full and uninhibited access to mental health services without facing stigma, discrimination, and pathologization by mental health professionals. 2. Combatting discrimination and stigma leading to mental health challenges. 3. Highlighting good and safe mental health practices originating from and directed to LGBT+ community, according to the principles of community psychology and acknowledging the experience of LGBT+ individuals themselves, as well as mental health professionals that follow the aforementioned principles, whether they identify as LGBT+ or not. 4. The necessity of scientific public speech that promotes depathologization expressed by mental health professionals that also are visibly out as LGBT+. We have already established a network of mental health professionals with the essential expertise on sexual orientation and gender identity issues. Our team has experience working in the LGBT+ community, as well as the necessary scientific training. Our vision is that this network keeps expanding, with the addition of new scientific associates committed to their continuous education and in accordance to the above principles.
