Salusbury World Refugee Support

www.salusburyworld.org.uk

We work with refugee and migrant families helping children, young people and parents to realise their rights and potential. We’re the only school-based refugee charity in the UK so we are uniquely placed to work with whole families. Our work is effective because our services are joined up to provide integrated educational, social and practical support. Follow us on Twitter: @SalusburyWORLD Like us on Facebook: www.facebook.com/salusburyworld Our services include: - Mentor training and supervision - Holiday clubs - After school clubs - One to one advice and advocacy - Classes and workshops for adults - Cultural excursions for adults and children - Life skills training for adults and teenagers - Volunteering and work experience opportunities for adults and teenagers - Cycling proficiency for adults and children - Special drama, art and other creative projects for adults and teenagers. These services and programmes are delivered by 9 full time or part time professionals with the help of over 100 specially trained volunteers. Salusbury World also created and supports Spice Caravan, a community catering enterprise that offers a unique engaging employment opportunity for our local community. Salusbury World receives no government or local authority support. We are totally reliant on the generosity of our supporters, and on Charitable Trusts and Foundations. Salusbury World was founded in 1999 in response to high numbers of newly-arrived families from Kosovo and Albania who were being housed and schooled in Brent. Funded by a lottery grant, the aim was to provide vital extra support for these families, many of whom had experienced trauma, long journeys to the UK, and living in temporary accommodation.
