Alberigi Insurance Agency was founded in November of 1968 by Ray Alberigi and has since been a staple in the Jessup community. The business began when Ray, a U.S. Marine Officer, and Aetna C&S insurance adjuster, was thinking about entering politics. While working for Aetna, he was told that "Politics won't last forever, but insurance is something that people will always need." With the advice he was given, he chose to purchase an existing Aetna Agency and Alberigi Insurance Agency was born. The first few years he ran the business by himself at an in-home office. It wouldn't be until the early 1970's that he brought on another employee. Eventually, as the Agency grew, Alberigi Insurance moved to Church Street in Jessup. In September of 1986 Ray's daughter, Tracy Alberigi, joined the agency to run the day to day operations. Upon Ray's retirement from County Government in 2000, and his desire to spend time with his wife and family, the agency was turned over to Tracy. In 2013 the agency welcomed a third-generation, Ray's grandson, J.R. Refice, who followed in his grandfather's footsteps at Penn State as both a student and athlete.
