Philadelphia Office of the Inspector General
www.phila.govAs the City’s eyes and ears, our goal is to boost public confidence in City government by rooting out corruption, fraud, and misconduct. The Office of the Inspector General (OIG) is an independent office authorized to conduct both criminal and administrative investigations of all departments, agencies, commissions and boards under the Mayor’s jurisdiction. The office also investigates individuals or companies that do business with the City or receive City funding. Our office is available to any City agency in need of assistance. The OIG has the power to issue subpoenas, examine all City documents, contracts and monetary expenditures made from the City treasury, and to demand testimony from City employees. To efficiently and successfully investigate, the office works with federal, state and local law enforcement when reviewing issues related to criminal activity and serious cases of fraud and corruption. While the OIG may initiate investigations on its own accord, many of our investigations are conducted in response to complaints. Our work relies heavily on the confidence and support of fellow Philadelphia citizens. To report a complaint related to corruption, fraud or misconduct, please visit our website at phila.gov/ig.
